Before You Read

The information presented are both derived from the English and Traditional Chinese translations for the game's hero bios (which have some slight differences), which is why it may differ from your understanding of the game.

A lot of the information is based on my own headcanons/theories, and shouldn't be considered to actually be a part of the lore unless stated otherwise. That being said, it's simply my own interpretations and made for my own enjoyment, please don't start unnecessary arguments and such over them.

Cloris x Bahiti

Cloris and Bahiti were both orphans, yet their upbringings had significant differences. Bahiti was found by the Dawn Alliance in an abandoned shelter. Cloris was raised by someone who she could seen as a parental figure (adoptive father), yet she was abused and ended up being a mere tool for his own selfish gains in the end.

I personally see both being able to relate to each orher's pains/wondering of each other not being able to likely ever know each other's biological partents, yet Bahiti had the fortune to experience bring raised by people who actually loved him for who he is, while Cloris was forced to make herself into a persona she hoped that would make her adoptive father accept her, only to realize it was all for nothing and her father didn't consider her to be human to begin with.

Gina x Ling Xue

It was a ship that started when I read about Ling Xue enjoying to make cute sweets/snacks, and Gina having a soft spot for both sweets and cute things.

Both are women in leadership positions, and feel obligated to hide their more 'feminine' traits. The main difference is while Ling Xue yearns to be able to show such traits, she's more open and does whatever she could and have fun. On the other hand, Gina is ashamed of the fact she's has a 'softer' side and actively tries to hide them to the point of willing to beat someone up for it (Patrick). I like to imagine Ling Xue could help coax Gina into embracing her more feminine side.

Jeronimo x Karol

They started as a crack ship suggested by a friend who's also into Whiteout Survival lore. Then they became one of my biggest gay OTP for WoS.

In my version, they have the messiest relationship out of everyone. The main two struggles are Jeronimo facing familial expectations to make sure there's he brings a heir to pass down with internalized homophobia, and Karol's severe self-image concerning his body due to extensive bullying and getting mocked so much over it.

Personally, I find Jeronimo to be an interesting character. He's not your typical 'good hero who does everything for the good of the others'. He clearly has materialistic tendencies, and while he tries to be on the good side of the law, he's not above doing morally questionable tasks to fulfil his selfish wants. Not as much is told about Karol's personality, but it could be implied he's a decent leader who's very brave. Both have a sense of pride who may clash with each other.

It's probably the only relationship out of the ones I mainly focus on possibly ending in a poor break-up due to Jeronimo's constant self-denial and repression, not to mention his strong sense of pride. Despite such, they also became some kind of a comfort ship due to both could comfort each other extensively in certain happier versions.

Eugene x Smith

They are canonically drinking buddies.

Lynn x Seo-Yoon

Musical girlfriends who finds connection in something they're both passionate about.

Wu Ming x Wayne

They're an OTP of my current Whiteout Survival friend, Lilac. They play into the Eastern and Western trope, but due to thier pasts, it becomes a fun dynamic. From my friend's suggestion, they're sun and mooon, but initially reversed. In childhood, Wu Ming was the moon, while Wayne was the Sun. This however flipped once they became adults, and they unconsciouly became attracted to each other due to the familiarity.

Renee x Reina x Mia

Plain fun and cute caravan trio who work together due to that being the roles they came to accustom.

Eleonora x Viveca

In summary, it's kind of a Princess and Knight relationship. I enjoy the idea how both probably have doubts about their romance due to their status initially.

Ligeia x (Various Women)

I imagine she has many one-nights and insincere relationships, all done purely for her own gains. The reason for such relationships ranges from political powers to simply due to her own boredom. However, I still enjoy the idea of Ligeia having dated Viveca and Freya which ended bitterly for both.

Alonso x Rufus

Two men who lost pretty much all/have a distorted view on the world are trying to find love in their old age. Realistically, they wouldn't have the capacity for such things, but I like to imagine they at least find some solace in such a manner when both believe they couldn't.

Headcanons of Note

• Bahiti and Smith are trans men, while Ling Xue is a trans woman. Seo-Yoon is a demi-girl.
• Bahiti and Cloris are bi-for-bi. Cloris is slightly sex-repulsed and more reluctant to get into relationships (especially with a man) out of the due to her past.
• Mia, Renee and Reina are all polyamorous.
• Karol, Jeronimo, Eugene and Smith are all gay.
• Gina, Ling Xue and Lynn are all lesbians.
• Zinman is ace (had daughter due to his wife desiring a child), and Jessie is currently questioning her romantic and sexuality after her fallout with Flint.
• Zinman and Jessie are ace while Dominic is aroace.
• If unspecified, the rest are simply sapphic, achillean or ace in some way. If not, then have something going on with their gender (Blanchette being a prime example). Yes, no one is cishet in my version, once again please don't start arguments over this, simply let me have my versions in peace.
